Storyboard Music Video.ppt Recovered]
Here is our first draft of our digital Storyboard. To hep us gain a more overall view of how our music video will fit we went on to the locations to take photos of where we would actually shoot the film. It has also helped us think about how we are going to achieve the shots we hope for.

This is a picture of what our StoryBoard looks like and how we will plan for every single shot. This will help when we are filming aswell as editing. This is what we failed to do last year and as a result had a lack of detail causing us to have to re-film quite a few times, here are some mistakes we made last year causing us to have to rethink;
- Continuity errors
- Break with the 180 degree rule
- Not getting all the shots we wanted
- Change in lighting (where we had to re film on different days due to missing shots)
- Re filming numerous times which left less time for post production & editing
- Disorganised filming, not bringing tripod when required.
This year we are working to not have to re-film and have these mistakes again. So we are putting a lot of effort and work into our storyboarding.

'Honey and the Anarchists'
Today we thought it might be a nice idea to have the word and idea of 'Honey' in our title. We wanted to contradict the idea of Honey with sweet and quite cute connotations to a harder word, possibly portraying the stronger side of our protagonist. We looked in an online encyclopedia and found the word;
'Anarchism' - Anarchists seek to diminish or even abolish authority in the conduct of human relations.
I like this as it will portray our characters vulnerable and weak side, but also her ambition to be strong and free which i believe the song is about.

Florence and the Machine
'Florence and the Machine (often stylised as Florence + the Machine) is the recording name of British pop artist Florence Welch and a collaboration of other artists who provide backing music for her voice. Florence and the Machine's sound has been described as a combination of various genres, including rock and soul. The band's music has received praise across the music media before they gained mainstream success, especially from the BBC who played a large part in Florence and the Machine's rise to prominence by promoting her as part of BBC Introducing.'
Florence and the Machine are a colaboration of the two maingenres i have studied, rock and soul/theatre.. Combining what we have learnt already from Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Paloma Faith.

Problem!
As a group we have decided that although we love our song and it's concept of 'imagination vs reality' the idea could be slightly too hard and have too many 'levels' to be able to be secure in being able to form a good music video. After thinking about other possible ideas we could do with the song, we have decided to change the song but possibly keep some of the same ideas in the genre.
Songs we are considering:
1) Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition
2) Lily Allen - Smile
3) Kate Nash - Pumpkin Soup
4) Lily Allen - 22
5) Florence and the Machine - Dog days are over
6) Florence and the MAchine - You got the love
Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition
We love the treatrical and dramatic feel to this song, and it will follow on with a lot of the same Mise en Scene we would use for Paloma Faith.
However, the problem here is that there is boy singing the vocals, which is a problem we have already faced in discussing our Music Video.
For this video we would need to do an abstract video although think it would be a bit too hard to do that.
Lily Allen - Smile
What we really love abo
ut this song is the up tempo beat, which could be quite easy to edit shots to. We like the way this song challenges the traditional view of woman in the media, 'when you fir
st left me', the lyrics talk about how a girl who was 'so lost back then' managed to become stronger than the dominant male in her life. We also love the scope to come up with ideas that this song gives us. We could choose anything to do. An abstract, narrative or performance video. However the lyrics
of the song will most probably limit us to doing a relationship video, and we are therefore in danger of copying the original video.

Band Brand; What are they? Research
A singer or a groups Band Brand, is their advertising package. 'How to Brand your Band'. We will be creating an 'advertising package'; Including a CD Cover and an advertisement for a magazine.
Here are some CD packages of people in our Genre;
Pixie Lott - Pixie Lott's advertisement and CD package shows her to be quite bold, successful, her 'own woman' but showing simply her and her name in big font so that the audience is almost taken aback. However the positioning of her on a chair with her legs spread sexualises her and her image, but this is not conforming to the stereotype of a completely'sexualised' woman, more an in control woman.
Paloma Faith - Paloma Faith's music and advertisment is a lot more dramatic than Pixie Lott's. Using the same method in both CD covers, she is also in a bra, with red lipstick which sexualises herself. However, theres a binary opposition of being pure (with the doves) and 'angelic-like' (the light from behind her head)
This idea of Sexy but Strong and Determined woman will be something we are going to implement into our advertisement ideas.

Making our Treatment
This is us writing our PowerPoint to present our ideas for our Paloma Faith music video.
In this we will include;
• Background on song
• What is the basic narrative or concept of your video? Are you creating a performance, narrative or concept and why? Link this to your lyrics
• What ‘feel’ do you want to provide for your audience?
• How will you achieve this?
• What are the codes and conventions of your genre?
• In what ways are you conforming to or subverting them?
• What themes do you have running through your video?
• How will you use costume and make up to convey your messages?
• Where is your location and why?
• Have you obtained the band’s permission?

We have decided that we will have to simplify our ideas as some are unachievable with the resources we have. However we are still keen to pursue our imagination vs reality concept and are looking at ways of simplifying this. A possible idea was not so much imagination more twisted reality however this would not contrast as well as imagination and with the obvious contrast in the song we do want to reflect this in our video.
